The Australian Republican Party is dedicated to ending the reign of Kings in Australia. Australia's Head of State should be an Australian. He or she should represent our people our values and our nation. The core problem of Australian Republicanism is that our people are comfortable with the constitutional life of the Commonwealth but ... counterintuitively ... want to elect the head of state. It's navigating that seemingly impossible conundrum The Republican Party is committed to. We must reach out beyond the traditional Republican audience. We must be comfortable with the new Australia but not lose sight or undervalue the cultural, social and political footprint of the old Australia that made us the envy of the world.
